At Nature Vybz, we specialize in wild-harvested sea moss gels, meticulously crafted by our founder and CEO, Kayla Imani.
In 2018, Kayla Imani embarked on a journey to cultivate healthier habits for her own well-being. In her family history, health challenges and obesity cast a shadow, as she lost her grandmother to breast and stomach cancer, and her aunt, who introduced her to her Jamaican heritage, to diabetes. Reclaiming her health and vitality has been an ongoing struggle. Immersed in her love for cooking, Kayla devoted herself to meal prep, aiming to craft dishes that were not only flavorful but also nutritious. Acknowledging the repetitiveness of meal prep and the challenges of balancing her roles as a full-time server and esthetician, Kayla searched for a practical solution. Enter smoothies—her newfound holy grail—a powerhouse packed with essential vitamins and nutrients, ideal for busy workdays. Drawing from her Jamaican roots, Kayla incorporated sea moss into her smoothies, a tradition predominantly embraced by men for its reputed stamina and libido-boosting qualities. Unbothered by tradition, Kayla boldly decided to experiment on her own, and the outcome was revolutionary. She noticed immediate benefits such as heightened energy, better digestion, and glowing skin. Gradually, she shed extra weight and embraced a holistic approach to wellness. Smoothies emerged as her preferred solution—simple to make, effortless to consume, and a discreet method to incorporate sea moss into her daily regimen. Despite lacking interest and time to sell sea moss, Kayla's perspective shifted when someone she knew sought her help for their severe acne breakout. Agreeing to prepare a facial mask for them, she noticed remarkable results, particularly when a person with a pale complexion experienced rapid reduction in severe redness. Looking back, that encounter marked her first customer, as they paid $50 for a 32-ounce jar. Moving forward, her then-boyfriend faced both psoriasis and Crohn's disease. She began preparing a drink for him using nut or oat milks, vanilla, cinnamon, and plain sea moss, which he consumed daily. Within a few weeks, he noticed significant improvements—fewer flare-ups and better digestion. Impressed by the results, he encouraged her to sell because she could help thousands of people who are suffering. She finally agreed to it and created her first flavor, THE CINNABON, understanding that not everyone would find it easy to take the original sea moss. Despite this, she put them up for sale and received great feedback. Then Covid hit, and within the first 6 months during the pandemic, she gained about 1,000 customers. With everyone laid off from work, she found ample time to make sea moss, and that's how Nature Vybz came about organically. In the future, Nature Vybz hopes to open a storefront to make it even easier for customers to get their hands on their delicious sea moss and other products. Even as the business grows, Nature Vybz’s primary goal will always remain the same, providing every customer with good vybz.
Meet Our Ceo
Introducing our CEO, Kayla Imani, a 28-year-old serial entrepreneur and creative expert in wild-harvested sea moss gel. Kayla embarked on her entrepreneurial and creative journey at the young age of 16, specializing in selling glasses, jewelry, and vibrant items that caught the eye. This successful venture not only provided valuable experience in customer service and communication but also laid the foundation for her future endeavors.
Later, she ventured into music and relocated to Atlanta with friends to pursue her passion in the industry. Although this put her business on hold, she sacrificed it to explore the world of music. Landing a deal with Epic Records and getting paid to do music and travel with her friends was a dream come true. While the music venture eventually fell apart, it was still a valuable experience.
Upon returning to Philly, Kayla sought to find her path. Feeling her hands were anointed by God and with a passion for beauty and health, she decided to attend esthetician school. After graduating, she began teaching a class she created called "Brows to Brazilians," covering everything from brow microblading to waxing in a two-day course. While this was a rewarding job, she realized she preferred creating products to improve skin textures.
She started experimenting with body scrubs, sharing them with family and using them herself. However, hesitant after the disappointment of her first business, she decided not to rush into another venture until she was certain. Returning to serving in restaurants allowed her to network and meet people while she took her time to explore her next entrepreneurial endeavor.
Leaving an unhealthy relationship left her feeling dull, stressed, and overweight. This prompted her to turn inward and prioritize her health and wellness. As she embarked on her journey to recover from repeated disappointment, she discovered the benefits of using sea moss to enhance her energy and aid in weight loss. This newfound focus on self-care and natural remedies organically led to the inception of her next business, born out of authenticity and without force.
